讀者Dave問：Dear Technician Lee, How are you? I read your article in the newspaper and it has given me a better understand of how a car operates internally. However I still have some questions regarding my own vehicle and I am wondering if you could give me some insight on how to fix these issues. My car is a 2003 Honda civic LX at 182000 km. The car has burning engine oil and I have to add engine oil all the time. I use 10W30 engine oil. Recently I discovered that the engine oil has been leaking in to the radiator and the coolant mixes with the engine oil. I asked the technician and he told me that this was not a problem as the engine oil is above the coolant level. However I am still unsure whether this is true or not. He recommended that I change the engine and all the issues would be solved. He also told me that the new engine already had 230000km on it but I do not know if the new engine has burning engine oil too or not. Do you have any ideas besides changing the engine to solve the above issues. Thank you for your time. All the best for you and your family.

李進答：Dave您好，您的情況是非常典型的高哩數本田引擎會出現的問題，就是「燒缸」了。缸頭密封墊片有穿孔，導致機油和冷卻水參合了。這個問題會越演越烈，最後排氣管會冒大白煙，引擎劇烈抖動。沒有什麼好的解決辦法。更換引擎至少找一個低哩數的，不低於100,000公里的。越低越好。
