Spring Mountains Like a Song（春山如歌）
I gave this landscape painting this name because I felt a sense of peaceful tranquility when I was painting it, just like the pleasure one feels when listening to a song.
No one can deny that you have to be in the right mood to make a painting. Sometimes thoughts well up in your head, and your brush moves as if divinely possessed. But sometimes you feel anxious and distressed, and don’t have any inspiration. This is just like life, which has its ups and downs. There’s no way to paint if you’re not in the mood.
Thick layers of clouds cover the upper part of this painting, and the lower part shows a grove of blossoming cherry trees. The different red hues of the blossoms make the painting look as if it were lost in singing a song.＠
