在替向日葵花作写生时,发现花心种子(葵花子)的排列呈现一种很有规则的秩序。但不管再怎么奇特的排列,对我们来说并没有什么太大的不同──除了它的美。
后来有一次上课,跟学生们解释向日葵的生态,谈到这种排列现象时,一个学生脱口而出,说它叫做“费波纳奇数列”。她在国中是教美术的,竟然晓得这数学的专有名词,真是不简单呀!
最后在画的右上角,我们安排一只白蝴蝶,和群花相互呼应。
Realistic Sunflower(工笔向日葵)
I have portrayed this sunflower in the traditional realistic style.
I discovered that the seeds are arranged in a very orderly pattern when I sketched a sunflower. But no matter how unusual the arrangement is, it doesn’t really make much difference to us, except that it adds to the flower’s beauty.
I later mentioned the arrangement of the seeds when I was explaining sunflower ecology in the classroom, and one student exclaimed that this pattern was called a “Fibonacci sequence.” This student taught junior high school art, but she surprisingly knew this mathematical term. Quite unusual!
Finally, I painted a white butterfly in the upper right corner, and the butterfly and flowers highlight each other. @
