在连续的加息给房主们带来沉重打击的同时，日常必需品价格不断攀升的问题似乎也没有立即缓解的迹象。九号新闻网为此对比了澳洲一家主要超市2022年和2023年的食品杂货价格。
结果显示了澳洲人在结账时的暗淡景象。
2022年，一份基本的家庭用品清单，包括从酸奶到金枪鱼罐头、新鲜蔬菜和清洁等产品的价格，略高于112澳元。
到2023年，购买完全相同的产品，顾客的花费高达180澳元，增加了近68澳元，涨幅达到60%。
在这份清单中，几乎所有的食品杂货价格都已上涨，只有少数超市自有品牌商品的价格没有变化，唯一降价的商品是两棵一包的生菜。
一些清洁产品，例如一瓶900毫升的织物柔软剂，价格同比上涨了一倍多。
一些购物者在超市外接受九号新闻网采访时说，他们每周的购物清单都“明显的更贵了”。
“我不知道还能再贵多少，”56岁的玛丽（Mary）说。
“我们试着少买一些不必要的东西，但即使是买一些基本的东西，如麦片和其它东西，也要花费几百元。”
玛丽承认，虽然大多数商品明显更贵了，但她并不总是能 “马上分辨出哪些商品涨价了”，“哪些商品保持不变”。
“洗漱用品的价格简直贵的离谱，”她补充说。
32岁的凯特（Kate）说：“哪怕是只买一小部分商品，价格也可能高达70澳元。”
