香港的民主
最近(发生)的事情﹐如2003年7月1日和2004年1月1日的游行﹐反映了香港人民对于依照(香港)基本法规定﹐推进民主进程的愿望。
美国强力支持在香港通过选举改革和全民普选(实现)民主。这将促进经济和社会发展﹐同时也有利于香港在“一国两制”框架下的繁荣。

Democracy in Hong Kong
Recent events, such as the July 1, 2003 and January 1, 2004 demonstrations, reflect the desire of the people of Hong Kong to advance the democratization process, as provided for under the Basic Law.
The United States strongly supports democracy through electoral reform and universal suffrage in Hong Kong. These will advance economic and social development as well as contribute to Hong Kong’s prosperity within the “one country, two systems” framework.
