In China, the controversial Three Gorges Dam project continues to push forward.

An additional 300,000 residents in the southwestern municipality of Chongqing are being forced to relocate, state-run media reported on Thursday.

Officials say relocations are to prevent communities from polluting the reservoir and to protect them from potential seismic disasters, according to state-run China Daily.
根據國營的中國日報報導，官員表示居民重新安置，是為了預防社區汙染水庫，以及保護他們免於受到潛在的地震災害。
Opponents of the 22.5 billion-dollar dam have long criticized the project because of its huge environmental and social costs.

Villagers who’ve lost their homes complain they have not been given any compensation.
