Woolrich once said in a commercial that they are, “The original outdoor clothing company”, a statement which holds true. Woolrich, founded in 1830 by John Rich in the United States, has been producing wool products for 188 years. During the Civil War, due to the good quality of its wool products, they became the military blanket supplier of the Northern Army. John created square patterns on his woolen shirts, which began the creation of the classic plaid design. In 1939, Woolrich provided outerwear to U.S Admiral and Medal of Honor recipient, Richard Byrd. The admiral wore Woolrich outerwear during his Antartic expedition which was a great success. It truly made the world witness the warmth and durability Woolrich can provide.

In 1972, Woolrich launched the Arctic Parka which was used by the US military to protect their soldiers from freezing. Nowadays, not only is it used for warmth, but it offers a chic and fitted look. It has become a very famous brand and a must-have for many people for going outdoors. In December 2017, Woolrich opened its first Canadian store in Toronto’s Yorkdale Mall. The interior design of the store was created by the designer Katayama Masahiro. The store features Woolrich’s men’s and women’s collections, accessories and shoes. Conveniently enough, they also have sales associates who can speak fluent Chinese and English.
