KNOX市有7000多名澳洲華裔居民。据我所知，不論是在澳洲或海外出生，新年對大家來說，都是一個非常重大的節日，它代表著新的一年的希望，大家歡聚一堂，盛情款待親朋，開心快樂，派發紅包。
民族傳統對于各個國家來講都是非常重要的。幸運的是，在澳洲大家能夠分享有趣而又意義重大的多元化的各种慶祝活動。在澳洲，無論是西方人還是東方人都把新年放在極其重要的位置。對于我們大多數人來講，這一天万象更新，寄托著大家對未來的期待、計划和希望。

Kung Hei Fat Choi! On behalf of Knox City Council, I am delighted to wish you a Happy New Year. As you gather with your families and friends to celebrate the commencement of the Year of Monkey, I wish you great happiness and good fortune in the coming year.
We have more than 7,000 Knox residents with Chinese ancestry and whether born in Australia or overseas, I know that the lunar New Year remains a day of great celebration, a day of hope for the coming year and day of feasting, fun and red packets with loved ones and friends
Traditions are important in every society and we are so fortunate in Australia to be able to share such an interesting and important diversity of celebrations. New Year, whether the Western or Eastern New Year, is high on the list of special days in our country. For most of us, it is a day of renewal when expectations, plans and hopes for the future are upper most in our minds.
I wish you very good luck and hope the coming year is one when dreams are fulfilled and fortune flows.
