lighten 當動詞有「使變輕；使變亮」的意思，引申為「讓人變開心」。當我們叫人 Lighten up. 就是要他停止負面的情緒，不要再抱怨、苛責、或消沈了。

on board可指「搭乘（車、船、飛機等）」或「到職」，引申為「同意的」，常見的句型為 be on board with sth.，例如：I’m on board with it.「我同意」。

oll 可以解釋為「損害」，當我們說一個事物 take a toll on sb./sth.，就表示做那件事，或是使用某種東西會傷害人的健康，或對物品造成損害。

hang 有「吊死」的意思，對話中 Jack 是用雙關語嘲笑自己受盡 Carol的折磨。

over one’s head 無法應付；自不量力 這句話是形容某人處於無法掌控的狀況，或是嘗試去做超過自己能力太多的事情。 句型 …is in over one’s head. A: Do you need some help on your project? 你的案子需要幫忙嗎？ B: Yeah, that would be great. I’m really in over my head. 好，那太好了，我真的無法應付。
