作为维多利亚省省长和多元文化事务部部长,我非常荣幸地向新唐人电视台观众和希望之声电台听众祝贺中国农历新年快乐。
农历新年在中华传统上是人们在辞旧迎新之际回忆和庆贺的日子。和世界上别的地区和城市中的华人一样﹐维多利亚省的华人社区也以装饰街道﹐游行﹐舞龙等多姿多彩的方式庆祝农历新年。墨尔本市的农历新年庆祝每年都是维多利亚省吸引成千上万观众的最重大文化活动之一。作为本省充满活力的多元文化和语言的一部分﹐华人社区在本省的发展上扮演着不可缺少的角色。让本省不同文化背景的族裔共享不同的文化传统也是我们欢迎和接受本省各个社区的方式之一。
本省的华人为大维多利亚省作出了不断的贡献。在此我代表本省政府表达我们的感谢和支持。

MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER
As the Premier of Victoria and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, it is my great privilege to convey my Lunar New Years greetings to the New Tang Dynasty and Sound of Hope International Radio Network audience.
The Lunar New Year is traditionally a time for both reflection and celebration as people look back on the past and anticipate their hopes for the future year. In Victoria, as in cities and towns around the world, Chinese communities mark the Lunar New Year with colorful festivals, street entertainment, parades and Dragon Boat Races. Melbourne’s Chinese New Year festival attracts thousands of people each year from all over the state and is one of Victoria’s most popular cultural events. As part of Victoria’s dynamic cultural and linguistic diversity, the Chinese community plays an integral role in the development of the State. The sharing of cultural traditions by Victorians of all backgrounds is just one of the ways we keep building on the welcoming and accepting society we have in Victoria.
Chinese Victorians continue to make a significant contribution to the great state of Victoria and on behalf of my Government I offer our appreciation and continued support.
