A landslide is blocking a major highway in northern Taiwan, with three vehicles, including a taxi, possibly buried underneath.

Dozens of excavators and hundreds of soldiers were brought in to remove the dirt and boulders.

One woman, upset that one of her relatives may have been trapped underneath, was waiting and praying for news along the side of the road.
一位婦女在路邊等待及祈禱，煩惱她的先生可能被困在土堆下面。
“He already departed from home, but we could not reach him on the mobile phone and his office did not see him arrive. That was when we felt that this situation appeared serious and started to become nervous. Then, we went over all the possibilities and thought it was after two o’clock that he passed this section of the road.”

Taiwan’s president arrived at the scene on Sunday evening to assess the situation.

Officials estimate it will take 20 days to clear the road, and at least two further weeks for the operation to be completed.
官方估計清理該路段需要20天，而至少還需要二個星期的工作天，才能完成。
Separately on Monday, a strong quake struck Taiwan, but officials said there were no immediate reports of damage or tsunami warnings.
