【大紀元2016年04月19日訊】(大紀元記者吳英編譯報導)自週日(4月17日)晚間開始的傾盆大雨,直到週二(4月19日)仍未給得克薩斯州居民喘息的機會,目前已知洪水造成至少五人失去生命,十幾萬人沒有電力,州長已宣布大休斯敦地區的九個縣進入緊急狀態,呼籲居民要採取謹慎應對豪雨並注意安全。
氣象預報說,週二得克薩斯州(又譯為德州)仍有雷暴雨的機會。德州官員表示,這次大洪水是2001年阿利森熱帶風暴(Tropical Storm Allison)以來,最嚴重的洪災。
阿利森風暴同樣降下暴雨,德州的最高降雨量超過1000毫米。休斯敦爆發了最嚴重的洪災,成為受阿利森打擊最沉重的地區。該次洪災造成41人死亡,淹沒了超過7萬套房屋,還摧毀了2744套民宅,導致3萬人無家可歸。
截至週一下午,休斯敦地區已降下2400億加侖的雨量,單在哈里斯縣(Harris County)已造成50多億美元的財產損失。
週一喬治布什洲際機場(George Bush Intercontinental Airport)約取消800次航班,霍比機場(Hobby Airport)約有200次航班被取消,到週一晚間才恢復正常。
十幾萬人失去電力
週二雨勢未停但稍為緩和,德州休斯敦市長發言人賈尼斯·埃文斯(Janice Evans)表示,市政府將趁機開始清理垃圾。當地電力公司CenterPoint Energy週一已恢復十萬人的電力,目前尚有二萬人無電可用。
週一的洪災,發生一些戲劇性的救援工作。一名男子在快被滅頂的瞬間逃離車子,他的黑色豐田座車立即被洪水沖走。
這一幕恰好被CNN合作媒體KTRK記者捕捉。當時KTRK工作人員正在路邊架攝影機準備拍攝洪水情況,記者史蒂夫·坎皮恩(Steve Campion)看到一輛豐田汽車駛入淹水的道路,並立即漂了起來。
豐田汽車的司機打開車門,坎皮恩對他大喊:「你得出來!」該男子還在猶豫時,坎皮恩又對他大喊:「游泳!游泳!離開車子。游泳!」該男子終於決心離開車子向坎皮恩游去,坎皮恩扶著他走到路邊時,那輛汽車瞬間消失在水中。
坎皮恩事後說:「在休斯敦,(洪水時)我們常說『回轉,不要被淹』。這絕對是要記住的提醒,因為永遠不知道水有多深。」
70多匹馬獲救
在休斯敦北方,洪水漲得很快,一處牧場的主人在週一清晨大約3點醒來,淹水太深無法將拖車拉出來,唯一的辦法只有將70多匹馬趕到高地。
馬場主人表示,以為牧場是安全的,但還是擋不住這場大洪水。
馬匹後來被擱淺在附近的樹林,只好動用更多的人力,一隻隻拖出來。幸好全部的馬匹都救了出來。
