15-year-old Julia Schneider is from a place far removed from the hustle of 21st century Shanghai: the small Swedish town of Gavle.

Yet she won out over competitors from 63 different countries, all gathered in China’s business hub to vie for one of modeling’s most sought-after prizes.

On Tuesday, Schneider was crowned the winner of the 2011 Elite Model Look World Final.

The contest aims at discovering young talents who can be turned into international supermodels. Schneider gets a modeling contract as part of her prize.
