【What do you mean?這話怎講？】
這是談話時較隨便的講法，照說應該是What do you mean by that? 另一個類似句型是What does the word mean?”這個字作何解釋？”mean 在這兩個句型的「意思、意表」解。
mean 也作「打算」解，須要注意的是後面只能接不定詞，不可接-ing式，例如:
Paul means to go to Taipei next week.
保羅打算下星期到臺北去。
