Air pollution in Beijing has been declared the worst in the world. Each year hundreds of thousands of Chinese die from thick clouds of smog.

400,000 Chinese die from air pollution each year according to research from China’s State Environmental Protection Administration.
根据中国国家环境保护局所作的研究，每年有40万的中国人死于空气污染。
Satellite photos from a European Space Agency show in Beijing automobile emissions are the highest in the world, making China the largest smog producer.

Farmers in suburban Beijing claim, “A huge grey-yellow cloud cluster covers the entire horizon. Entering the city is like climbing up a chimney. The air smells like a mix of bitter coal smoke and gasoline.”

In the past 10 years, the pollutants emitted to the air from factories, electric factories and cars are rising by 50% in Beijing. The emission from cars is one of the major sources of air pollution.

Research has shown that 1/3 of Chinese urban residents have pollution above level 2. Over 116 million live in cities with level 3 pollution, which is described as dangerous.

Environmental pollution is believed to be the cause of health problems, including chronic tracheitis, deaths from premature delivery, asthma and the list continues.

Experts maintain children and senior citizens are most affected.
