Upon getting to the entrance to the park, I looked around for a middle-aged, as I guessed Ian was middle-aged.
It was glacial; many pedestrians wore coats and hats. Two minutes past the due time, a young Caucasian rushed up to the entrance. He wore coat and hat like ordinary Chinese, looking like a young Westerner rushing to a hockey game.
My sister touched me gently on the arm and whispered, “It might be him?” I walked up to him and asked doubtfully, “Are you Ian?”
This “hockey game goer”’s action was really fast — he crisply replied “yes,” at the same time swiftly took out from his pocket the right sum of money for our tickets (the park charged) and handed it to the entrance clerk.
The three of us swiftly walked into the park.
As soon as we took seat on a bench I told Ian, “We are Falun Dafa practitioners.”
“I knew it when you called,” Ian said crisply.
I immediately handed him a small piece of paper, on which was concisely written the news about Miss Chen Zixiu, a Dafa practitioner from Weifang City of Shandong Province, having been tortured to death lately in a brainwashing gulag because she refused to renounce Falun Dafa.
“Would you be interested in reporting on this case?” I asked Ian.
Upon reading through the content swiftly, he said, “I’ll first check if the news is true.” His attitude was serious and rigorous. I no longer felt he looked like a young man rushing to a hockey game.
The three of us swiftly walked out the park. Upon stopping a taxi at the entrance, Ian cautioned us while handing money to the driver, “Don’t go directly home. Take some detours.”
I was a bit surprised he knew this.
Later I knew that Ian had been working in China for seven years.
