To Declaim Poetry, on the Lawn Hsu ChiCheng
On that morning, the sun is particularly brilliant
Everywhere is bright with sunrays
Not too hot, just to make people perspire
Spells of breeze bring coolness and pleasantness
We come to declaim poems
On the green carpet of lawn
We are declaiming to our hearts’ content
Our voice
So tender, so moving
Spreading out like fragrance
With appeal
Through the space
Through the shadow of trees
Through the sunlight
All-pervasive
Nothing can check it
Those trees and grasses are listening, intoxicated
Those birds are moved, and they echo with songs
Those sunlight is more bright and brilliant
Here everything is bathed in heavy poetry
Oh, how nice to have poetry!
Poetry, a treasure between heaven and earth!
Remark: On the morning of August 30, 2011, at the 31st World Congress of Poets, a poetry declamation was held on the lawn before Kenosha Civil War Museum, hence the poem.
