I got back inside the walls at sundown, cold, spent, hungry and faint.
As soon as I limped into the cell, a watching–inmate passed me an iron luncheon box, which contained my dinner. I took a bite of the rice and found it still a bit warm. This was the first time I had warm rice to eat in glacial winter in over two years.
I said over and over again in my heart vehemently, “Thank Gods for granting me warm rice to eat! Thank Gods for granting me warm rice to eat…”
It was really a good thing for humans to suffer some hardships. It could make us understand better about thanksgiving and humility.
